30 foot cone-shaped object lands on California ranch

Read ArticleArticle Source: Examiner

Three California witnesses had an unusual experience during and after they watched a 30-foot-long and 20-foot-tall cone-shaped object with portholes that had either landed or was hovering slightly above their ranch, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

A fourth witness arrived later and was there for the final event.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

It terrified him so bad that his eyes watered and his voice cracked, insisting that we immediately leave towards the house. He cannot believe what he saw and both of us have had several sleepless nights. We can verify and confirm our credentials. WE have absolutely no idea of what we saw and my brother, as educated as he is, can not give a logical explanation of what we saw and I think this is why we both are so disturbed by the incident. We cannot report it in fear of ridicule and do not want to utilize our names. We both are heavily connected at the local/state/federal political level. If you have any questions, I did leave my email address. Hope you have some answers, because we do not!

Those aren't aliens. You don't build freeking portholes for a craft which is going interstellar. Any sane alien would use cameras with screens on the inside; mostly to protect from radiation and any stray material such as microasteroids. Sure it may have some kind of force shield, but you can bet that aliens with any sense would use failsafe systems much like we do. After all, our automobiles do not crash very often, but that doesn't mean we don't install seatbelts.

Maybe if the portholes use something that's transparent but as durable as the rest of the hull?

For anyone who'd ask "why bother?", I'd like to point out that many people have a different experience looking at a monitor linked to a telescope as opposed to peering through the eyepiece itself.

People were ridiculed by the authorities and general populace during the Dark Ages when they reported that rocks fell out of the sky. How is that possible? If they were up there they would have fallen a long time ago, right?

Some concepts are beyond the ability of the average person or many authorities to accept. Sir Arthur Eddington, an English astronomer, said that the universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.

Its unlikely that we'll be visited by aliens for another few thousand years. We just started emitting radio waves a hundred years ago. Our own galaxy is 100,000 light years across. So if you believe Einstein, its going to take a while before the rest of our galaxy is aware of our existance.

Assuming there are a small number of other intelligent, high-tech life forms in our galaxy, and they have light speed travel, we've got at least several thousand years before we should expect visitors, assuming we live that long of course.

Yes, the space shuttle has portholes. It's not even an interplanetary craft. It's not designed to spend more than a month in space, it's not designed to travel through the asteroid belt and has no serious gamma ray or cosmic ray shielding.

The space-shuttle is basically a very HIGH altitude rocket-powered jet/glider.

Carrying this thought experiment a little further, I wonder if the presence of a high oxygen atmosphere could also be a good indicator of a life form.

Oxygen is a fairly volatile gas that reacts with other substances, so the fact that our planet has had an oxygen rich atmosphere for 500 million years or so could be another indicator of a life process - at least a life process complex enough to digest something and emit oxygen as a waste byproduct.

If thats the case, then its entirely possible advanced aliens have had more than enough time to spot our planet and come find out whats brewing.

There is a good reason for scepticism. If you check the MUFON website, in California alone over the past week there have been 16 reported sightings. Unless there are more aliens coming to california from space than from mexico, all/most of them are not aliens. This guy didn't give a county, let alone a name; the only setting information we are given is a ranch somewhere in California. Sounds like a hoax to me.

The validity of this particular, or any particular, story about seeing UFOs does not impact my belief that we're not alone in the universe.

This could be silly nonsense. And it would still be almost infinitely impossible that we're the only sentient life form in the universe.

Good news, crazies! There's a new update to your tried-and-true tin foil hat which promises to "stop aliens from abducting humans." Finally! The website gives you full instructions on how to construct a Stop Abductions helmet of your own using only a pair of scissors, a highlighter, a yardstick, a paper plate, a roll of 2-foot tape, some of 3M's electrically-conductive Velostat composite, and a hat. As a bonus, it'll give everyone around you fair warning that you're certifiably insane and should be avoided, which should cut down on awkward confrontations with non-crazies. http://www.stopabductions.com/

Aliens? That's the key....Maybe they're so "alien" that they don't have any concept of "cameras" and "monitors" like we do.

The biggest mistake most people make when dealing with "aliens" is to assume they think and act like we do. It's very possible their brains aren't even wired to understand primitive Earth based electronics.

Think about it....Ancient Mayans had mind boggling technology and engineering prowess...but they had no concept of the wheel.

Another thing to think about is, What if their cameras and TV's were so badly distorted by the force field around their ship, they had to resort to portholes...

hmmm just watched a show about undersea subs, probing shipwrecks, oddly enough, the cameras are behind glass portholes, to protect them from the pressures of the sea, so I would think that a ufo, would have the cameras behind portholes, to sheild the cameras from micro-particles, stray electromagnitic interference, ect. a flying cone, must be the 2009 line of hydrid ufo's,, hmm I wonder how much of a Government bailout went to the big 3 UFO makers

I used to be a skeptic about UFO's 'til I saw one in 1973 in Charlotte, NC. I was so amazed I stopped at a neigbor's house to get someone else to verify the sighting. He drove, his wife sat in front. "OMG", the wife said as the red green and blue lighted orb silently zipped along, hovering pretty low above the trees. Then it started getting further away, gradually, until it looked just like a tiny star. We called police and radio stations and found there were others calling in. A co-worker saw it near her farm as well. I found out that UFO's are often seen near chemical plants--there was a chemical plant just a mile or so away from my house.

I do not believe that we Earthlings are the only beings in the the Universe.

speaking of which... driving home one night after smoking a joint, I could see lights flashing around the bend, I slowed expecting to see a ambulance or police car. I as came around the bend.. I didn't see the usual rooftop lights I was expected, I was confronted by lights from near ground level up to about 16 feet. white, blue, yellow, and red. and spanning the entire width of the road. OMG my heart started racing I slowed and approached.. no way could this be really happening. finally I was close enough to make out someone standing in front of the lights.. everything became clear... It was a police man waving me ahead.. standing in front of.. a police car, fire truck and ambulance... I have never been so glad to see a cop when I was high... and ya know.. the police should tell people, that all of their lights flash now.. not just the rooftop bar.. headlights.. turnsignals.. high powerstrobes... ect.. so anyway.. for a couple of minutes... I was seeing a UFO

lol, jim, great story. I'm sure a good percentage of what people see as ufos have occurred under similar conditions:-) Now you know what you'd feel like if you did see a ufo tho, right?

of course, I am still not sure if I was dissapointed or relieved that it was not a UFO. I do believe they exist, just not sure if they are Terrestial or Extra-terrestial in nature, the military has some pretty fantasic stuff that could account for many sightings, but some remain unexplained, mainly the apollo spacecraft and space shuttle encounters.. shouldn't you brief an astronaut on classified spacecraft before he sees it out the window? so he doesn't blab it to the american public on accident? but if they are real, that brings up a whole set of topics to ponder

Yes, the old story is fast unravelling, and the new one hasn't finished knitting yet. Interesting times.

It quite often happens that people don't want to leave to get their cameras because they might miss the event. I know I'd be rooted to the spot, so unless I had a camera on me, and even then, I'd miss the shot too. There are a lot more good shots now, since camera phones started proliferating.

I couldn't see the article. It said it would be ready in five minutes. He must'va had to change something on it. I noticed he was from my state who takes care of that page on UFOs in the Examiner. I've seen some strange things here.

Hmmm. I just checked now, and it still says '5 minutes'. Now I'm intrigued.
